Learn to create and sew your own Fashion Designs in this 10-11 week sewing course!
Teenage students ages 13-17 will learn how to design, measure, cut and sew their ideas into a wearable garment. Perfect for beginners and returning students alike - all projects are self-designed (with the help of our professional design instructors) and students will work on our state-of-the-art Singer Quantum Stylist sewing machines!
After introductions on Day 1, the class will visit Mood Designer Fabrics (featured on Project Runway!) for a fabric shopping trip, all fabric is included in the course fee.
We highly encourage students to bring in ideas and sketches of what they would like to make during their course. After shopping, the class will begin with an introduction (or refresher for returning students) on how to use the sewing machine (safety included) and students will begin to create their patterns and sew their designs throughout the remaining weeks of class!
Students design their own projects so that past students can continue to sew and develop their skills while new students learn the art of sewing and design. Depending on your teen's skill level they may also cover pattern drafting and/or draping while they sew their designs.
* Class will walk from our studio to the fabric store on week 1. Fabric purchased at the store is included in the class fee, however there are no make-ups dates for the shopping trip. Students who miss the trip will have to choose from fabric in our studio or bring in their own fabric.
